Yes, all of our coffee is freshly roasted and packaged as quickly as possible. You will see from the roast date on the pack that all of our coffee beans are roasted within 10/14 days of delivery. Coffee straight out of the roaster is actually not the best and can produce inconsistent tasting beans. We allow for a 'resting period' where the coffee 'degasses' for 3/4 days before then resting until it reaches you. This will allow for the optimum flavour from your Italian coffee beans to come through from your cup. There is around 8g of ground coffee in each bag of coffee. This is as much as we can possibly squeeze into each bag. We have spent hours in the roastery testing what the right around of coffee is per bag and we have found that 8gs is the optimal amount.

Decaffeinated coffee beans start as regular coffee beans. They then go through a special process of decaffeinating. One of the methods that are used is as follows: The coffee beans are then water-logged before the roasting processing to make the caffein a bit more soluble. A solvent is then added to wash out the caffein to leave us with a decaffeinated bean.

Our decaffeinated coffee gives you the same quality coffee flavour, just without the caffeine. This is best if you are trying to take a break from caffeine either by choice or prescription, without missing out on the soothing taste of the hot morning coffee brew. This is also recommended for customers that have medical conditions such as type 2 diabetes or have had heart conditions in the past.

The decaffeinating process allows up to 99.9% removal of caffeine. There is always a small amount of caffeine that remains in the coffee, as this is merely a near-perfect process with many other factors affecting it. But the remnant is insignificant and leaves you with technically 0% caffeine.

Decaf coffee is no a different bean. It is the same bean, from perhaps even the same farm. The only difference is that it has passed through a special process. It is not a synthetic bean; it is not cooked up in a lab. It is grown on a farm by the same farmers who offer regular coffee beans.

The carbon dioxide process is one of how the coffee beans are decaffeinated. The gas is heated and pressurised before it is then pumped through the coffee beans. The properties of the gas allow it to separate the caffeine from the coffee, leaving us with a decaffeinated coffee bean.
