Presto Coffee Joins 1% For The Planet

1% for the Planet

Here at Presto, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve become proud members of 1% for the Planet, a global movement of businesses giving back to the environment and their communities.

Started in 2002, 1% for the Planet members have donated over $225 million to environmental nonprofits to date. Today, 1% for the Planet’s global network has more than 2,000 business members and thousands of nonprofit partners in more than 60 countries.

What does 1% for the Planet mean?

It means that Presto, and all other members of the movement, have committed to donating a minimum of 1% of our revenue directly to highly vetted environmental nonprofit organisations.

These nonprofits cover a diverse range of vital environmental focuses across climate, food, land, water, wildlife and pollution.

By working with 1% for the Planet, we have the assurance that our contribution will make an impact as well as being able to share knowledge with the wider membership network. This network is made up of like-minded companies and individuals who all strive to contribute and support the incredible work of partnered non-profit organisations.

What 1% for the Planet means for Presto

As well as financial donations, Presto will also be contributing to the movement through a range of company initiatives, such as engaging our team in community volunteering days and raising funds through team challenges.

Working with 1% for the Planet aligns with Presto’s brand-wide dedication to driving down environmental impact and sustainable innovation, be it developing 100% recyclable packaging (which we’ve already achieved with our Coffee Beans packaging), a strict supply chain (always shipped, never flown) and long-term strategies to neutralise our carbon footprint.

We always want to hear what our customers think. Do you want to know more about our work with 1% for the Planet? Do you feel strongly about which environmental nonprofits you’d like to see us partner with?

Let us know via our Contact form, or message us @prestocoffeeroasters on Instagram or Facebook.

What is B Corp certification and why does it matter?

We are all incredibly excited here at Presto about our recent ascension to B Corp status!  Something we have been working towards for a long time and has been core to our values and purpose from the start.

How to become more sustainable in 2022

If there's one New Year's Resolution that we believe everyone should have this year, it's making more environmentally conscious choices. We know this can seem a little daunting to begin with, but it can actually be really simple. We're not suggesting you start farming your own vegetables and selling your car (but we're not going to stop you either!), but some smaller simple switches can make a great impact.

Why are coffee prices going up?

There’s no doubt about it, 2021 has been a tough year for the UK, with what feels like the endless impact of COVID-19. It’s been tougher still on UK Businesses, who have also had to tackle European shipping limitations following Brexit on top of a global pandemic. Then there are UK Coffee Businesses, who have been hit hard by coffee prices reaching an unprecedented, all time high this year too.
